Efficacy Testing
CEMAS is a GLP and GEP-compliant laboratory offering a range of laboratory-based studies for the generation of efficacy data in support of registration of plant protection products as required by Commission Directive 93/71/EEC. Efficacy studies are designed and conducted to meet EPPO guidelines.
Efficacy Categories:
CEMAS is GEP-certified by the PSD under the UK “Official Recognition of Efficacy Testing Organisations” (UK ORETO) scheme, to conduct tests in the following categories:
- Agricultural and horticultural trials and tests: includes amenity, home, garden, forestry, biological pesticides, seed treatments, set-a-side and aquatic scenarios.
- Stored crops trials and tests: includes pre or post-harvest applications to grain and fruit, and where assessments are required during or after storage.
Laboratory-Based Efficacy Study Types:
CEMAS can conduct a range of studies to recognised EPPO Guidelines to
evaluate the efficacy of agrochemical products on a range of household, glasshouse and crop pests.
CEMAS commonly carries out non-routine testing and can conduct studies to satisfy specific customer requirements. Laboratory-based studies are carried out within environmentally controlled rooms and plant based studies can be undertaken at our glasshouse facility.
Field-Based Efficacy Studies:
In alliance with other CROs, who are also GEP-certified, CEMAS can now offer year round testing facilities to satisfy all efficacy requirements.
Non-routine studies:
CEMAS commonly carries out non-routine testing and can conduct studies to satisfy specific customer requirements. Semi-field and field trials, integrated pest management (IPM) studies are carried out at other suitable locations as required.
Both the sensitivity and consistency of response of the test systems are regularly checked at CEMAS using reference items.
