Efficacy Testing Service

CEMAS is a GLP and GEP-compliant laboratory offering a range of laboratory-based studies for the generation of efficacy data in support of registration of plant protection products as required by Commission Directive 93/71/EEC.

Efficacy Categories:

CEMAS is GEP certified by the PSD under the UK “Official Recognition of Efficacy Testing Organisations” (UK ORETO) scheme, to conduct tests in the following categories:

  • Agricultural and Horticultural trials and tests: includes amenity, home, garden, forestry, biological pesticides, seed treatments, set-a-side and aquatic scenarios.
  • Stored crops trials and tests: includes pre or post-harvest applications to grain and fruit, and where assessments are required during or after storage.

Laboratory-Based Efficacy Study Types:

The following are examples of study types conducted by CEMAS to recognised EPPO and other test guidelines:

  • Herbicides: for example efficacy and phytotoxicity for selective herbicides.
  • Fungicides: for example efficacy, in-vitro and in-vivo.
  • Insecticides, acaricides and molluscicides: for example efficacy on T. urticae, M. dirhodum, P. xylostella, A. reticulatus and M. domestica.
  • Efficacy testing: for example rainfastness, photostability and resistance monitoring.
  • IPM (Integrated Pest Management): for example efficacy on A. degenerans, Delphastus spp, Eretmocerus spp, P. persimilis and H. aculiefer.

Field-Based Efficacy Studies:

  • In alliance with other CROs, who are also GEP certified, CEMAS can now offer year round testing facilities to satisfy all efficacy requirements.
